IPL 2019: Unsold Players Who Will Miss The Tournament For The First Time After Inception

BCCI made an announcement that the venue for IPL 2019 will be in India for the entire season despite different predictions. Though there was no clear announcement about the fixtures, the IPL auctions for the twelfth season were completed by 18th December, 2018. Here is the list of a few unsold players who might miss the season after the inaugural season of IPL in 2008.

  1. Saurabh Tiwary

Saurabh-_TiwariIn 2008, he became the part of Mumbai Indians franchise. He is not the regular player for the franchise till 2010 but his performance was the best during 2010. He stood as the eight highest scorer with 419 runs from 15 innings. He slammed three half-centuries at a strike rate above 135.39.

He was purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore at a jaw-dropping sum of USD 1.6 million but he could not perform consistently till 2013 and slammed just one half-century for 40 matches. He was purchased by Delhi Daredevils in 2014 for Rs.70 lakhs and due to injury woes he played only seven matches till 2015.

He was purchased by Pune Supergiants in 2016 and slammed 170 runs from 10 games with two half-centuries. In 2017 he was bought back by Mumbai Indians and scored a fifty from a single game. He was for Mumbai Indians for 2018 season and could not get a single opportunity in that season.

He was once called as left –handed version of MS Dhoni with long hair but was one of the unluckiest players in IPL.

  1. Vinay Kumar

vinay kumarHe started his journey of IPL for RCB in 2008 and played for his home team for three seasons till 2011. He was purchased by Kochi Tuskers, and later he moved to Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014. He was traded by the Kochi franchise to Mumbai Indians in 2015, and played 13 matches. For 2015-17 he played for Mumbai franchise. In 2018 he played for KKR but could not make his mark and due to criticism on his performance, he was left unsold for the current season. Since 2013 he picked 23 wickets from 16 matches.

  1. Brendon Mc Cullum

brendon-mccullumHe represented Kolkata Knight Riders for first three seasons from 2008. In the initial season he slammed 158 runs off 73 balls which is one of the fabulous performances in the season. He shifted to Kochi team in 2011 like Vinay Kumar and slammed 357 runs from 13 games. In the second edition of IPL, he led the team of Kolkata Knight Riders. He played for KKR in 2012 and 2013 seasons. He played for Chennai Super Kings for 2014 and 2015 seasons and his stand with Dwayne Smith in the top order is an asset for the franchise. He slammed his second century in IPL in 2015. After suspension of CSK, he joined Gujarat Lions. In 2018 he made disastrous performances for RCB and was left unsold for 2019. In his lengthy journey of IPL, he added 2881 runs from 109 games with 13 fifties and two centuries. This year he was out of BBL after eight years due to poor form.
