Though one of the important batsmen for the team, Steven Smith was out of the team due to the ball-tampering scandal, they finished in the fourth position after facing a defeat in the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders during the Eliminator round.   1. Sanju Samson

He slammed 441 runs from 15 matches in IPL 2018. He is one of the highest scorers for the team during the hour of need. His average was around 31.50 and strike rate is around 138.71 in IPL 2018. He slammed 1867 runs from 77 IPL matches at an average of 26.87 with the highest score being 92 in the previous season and an overall highest score of 102 runs. He lost his spark in the performance in the second half of the tournament in 2018. He has 10 IPL fifties and one hundred under his belt.

  1. Jos Buttler

He is one of the world-class batsmen in the limited overs format. He slammed 541 runs from 13 matches in the previous season and stood as the highest run-getter for his team. His average was around 54 and his strike rate was jaw-dropping with around 155. His highest score in IPL 2018 was 95* with five consecutive fifties. He equaled the record of Virender Sehwag, who slammed consecutive fifties in IPL.  He played 37 IPL matches and amassed 1075 runs at an average of 34.68 and strike rate around 150. The franchise has huge expectations about his performance in the upcoming IPL.

He is a consistent Caribbean pacer with speed around 145 kph. He is one of the competent speedsters for the franchise and made an impressive performance in the T20I tour in 2018 against India. He picked 18 wickets from 10 seasons at an average of 17.66. He was bagged by the franchise for a whopping sum for this season also. He will be another Jamaican player to watch out for after Jofra Archer. He is absolutely one of the underrated players in the previous season but wants to show off once again in this season.
