IPL 2019: 3 international stars who could be the key for Mumbai Indians
IPL 2019 is closing in with just a week left before the grand tournament begins. Previously, there were speculations of IPL 2019 to be held outside India because of general elections but now we already have a week’s schedule available that ensures that IPL 2019 will be held in India.
This year we are going to see a lot of young talent in IPL that promises some high-quality cricketing action. Speaking of competition, Mumbai Indians is one team that ranks as one of the top two teams in IPL history. Yet, last season they failed to qualify for the playoffs which were disappointing for both the team and its fans. One of the reasons for the failure of Mumbai Indians in last season is the absence of consistent match-winning efforts from its big international players.
In IPL 2019, the team will need performance for its international players. Here are the three names we think will be decisive for the win of Mumbai Indians.
The Australian all-rounder us one of the best all-rounder in short format cricket. He’s an excellent athlete on the field which hard-hitting batting abilities that ensures that he can be counted on to chip in with only a few overs remaining. Mumbai Indians has a brilliant player in him who was underutilized last season by the team.
Cutting was not part of the playing XI’s for most of the season last IPL because of the presence of Kieron Pollard and the restricting rule of only 4 overseas players in the team. Although when he got chance to play against Kolkata Knight Riders, Cutting proved his talent scoring for the team and repeating the same performance against Delhi Daredevils.
Ben Cutting is coming from a successful Big Bash League season and is in great form. If Mumbai uses him wisely, they might break into the playoffs this season.
Quinton de Kock
Traded to Mumbai this year, Quinton is an ex-Royal Challenger who can be a great asset for the team. Bangalore is three times champions which bring in experience in the form of de Kock.
With an amazing ODI form this year, Quinton has struck 5 fifties in 6 innings. One of the reasons he was traded by RCB this year is his poor performance last season. But it was mostly because de Kock was not a regular part of the playing XIs in the team because of Brendon McCullum. Also before playing IPL last year, he had an average ODI season and was not in his best form.
If Quinton de Kock clicks this IPL, then Mumbai Indians will have a wrecker in him.
Now this name is not the one we often get to take in IPL. Jason Behrendorff has created a big name for himself within a short span of time. His performance for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League got him a berth in the Australian T20 and ODI series.
We have seen his performance against India at Guwahati in 2017 when he damaged the top order in the T20 match with his swings. Mumbai Indians might not be able to include in the team for every match as he can be called back for national duties, but still, his swing bowling talent can work for the team.
