IPL 2019: Changes RCB Needs To Make In Team To Resurrect As Winners

Royal Challengers Bangalore are struggling to survive in the tournament after three consecutive losses in this season. They drastically lost against Chennai Super Kings by getting bowled out at 70. Overdependency on Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and a vibrant set of players is the biggest drawback for the team.  Out of 31 matches in the past three seasons, the franchise managed to win only nine games. They finished their last season in the last position.

There is a saying that individuals can win the matches but it takes a team to win the series. With the defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 118 runs, RCB fell to the bottom of the points table with the lowest net run rate. Here are a few changes Virat Kohli can watch out for to repair the flaws in the team and rejuvenate their campaign this year.

  1. Consistent batting order

The skipper should work on maintaining a balanced batting order, especially the top order. Parthiv Patel is the only permanent player in the three matches and he opened the game with Shimron Hetmeyr in the previous game, Moeen Ali in the second game, and Virat Kohli in the inaugural game. No batsman is given a chance to cement their position in the top order. Virat Kohli is responsible to resolve this issue at the earliest to taste the success in the upcoming games.

  1. Death over bowling

Finding a death over bowler is the point of urgency for RCB. Though the franchise has quality bowlers, death over bowling is becoming the big question practically. Though Colin De Grandhomme and Umesh Yadav are good death over bowlers, they are known for poor economy rate and it will be a menace during the crucial moments. Tim Southee can be given a chance to prove himself since the team needs a death over specialist badly and Nathan Coulter Niel also joined the squad.

  1. Lower middle order issues

Shivam Dube is known as the best finisher in the domestic format of cricket and is given a chance based on his performance in the national tournaments. On the grounds of reality, he lacks international experience. Marcus Stoinis missed out the first three matches of the tournament due to his commitments for the national team. He is expected to sustain as a good finisher for the rest of the tournament.
