  1. Better Knockout rate

Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians reached playoffs in almost all the seasons and fans of Mumbai Indians feel that the franchise bags title in this fancy number year. But speaking about facts, Chennai has better knock out rate than the former. Chennai has a win-loss record of 12-7 when overall performance is considered and Mumbai has an overall win-loss record of 8-6. Mumbai was qualified for playoffs for four times. Chennai defeated Mumbai Indians directly every time they were qualified for playoffs and gained a berth for the finale.

  1. Consistent performances

Though both the teams performed consistently, Chennai won all the three games in the current season. Mumbai is always known for a poor start and gain momentum in the middle. Since both the teams accommodate players of international fame, there will be tough competition for the upper hand. But CSK is doing consistently since the inaugural season.

  1. Better all-around performances

Wankhede Stadium for Mumbai Indians and Chepauk Stadium for Chennai Super Kings are tough to adapt for other teams. But Chennai defeated Mumbai at Wankhede Stadium in the inaugural game but Mumbai Indians had a poor record at Chennai. In 2018, Chennai made a classical performance at Pune but Mumbai lost all the games in South Africa and UAE in 2009 and 2016.

  1. Strategies in auctions

Mumbai Indians seem to spend some extra bucks on impact players like Corey Anderson, Glenn Maxwell, and Jos Buttler but their performance was disappointing in the respective seasons. In addition, letting go of players like Parthiv Patel, Lendl Simmons, and Dinesh Karthik. These players contributed a lot to the team’s win in 2013, 2015, and 2017 respectively. Hence, the team needs to stay wary about their investment on the players.

  1. Comebacks in IPL

Though the team was trolled as old man’s team, CSK has the treasure of comebacks on many occasions. Senior players like MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo are proved to be good finishers and crucial men warding off all the criticism about them. Mumbai Indians are known for a slow start and hence every game seems an ordeal for them.
