In this IPL, many of the players received fat cheques unexpectedly and some proved to be worthy and some players disappointed the fans and franchises with their performance. Chennai Super Kings stand at the top of the points table by winning all the three games they played against RR, RCB, and DC. Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab, and Sunrisers Hyderabad are in good form with just one loss from three fixtures whereas Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, and Mumbai Indians registered a single victory out of three matches. Royal Challengers Bangalore fell to the bottom of the points table with four consecutive defeats from all the games they played. Here is an account of five disappointing players so far in the current IPL season.
- Shimron Hetmeyr
Shimron Hetmeyr slammed Indian bowlers black and blue in the test series last year during the visit of West Indies. He was bagged by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a jaw-dropping sum but he could manage only 15 runs from three games at an average of 3.75 and strike rate above 57.69. He proved to be a complete failure and slammed just one boundary. He might be replaced by Colin De Grandhomme for the upcoming games.
- Jayadev Unadkat
He was bagged by Rajasthan Royals in the previous season for the highest amount for an Indian player. He had a poor outing in the previous season but was trusted for the present edition by the same franchise. He picked the decent number of wickets in the first game but is leaking hefty amount of runs in many games. He holds the record of conceding the highest number of runs in the 20th over, which is the most disappointing record. He gave away 28 runs from last over against CSK with a poor economy rate of 12.40 with just two scalps from the season.
- Kieron Pollard
He is playing for Mumbai Indians since many seasons and slammed just 133 runs from 9 games without bowling single over in the previous season. He scored just 33 runs from three games with a strike rate of 111 and highest score being 11 off three games. He is failing to justify the fat cheque of 5.40 crore rupees which the franchise invested in to get him back in the current season. He is expecting to bounce back and cement his position in the franchise.
- Chris Lynn
Chris Lynn had a good outing in the previous season and was bagged by Kolkata Knight Riders for a big cheque. He was expected to make a fiery start along with Sunil Narine but slammed just 37 runs from 3 matches. His highest score was 20 at an average of 12.30 and strike rate of 94.87. His ability to take quick singles seems disappeared and wants to get back into the form to give more blistering innings for the team.
- Ambati Rayudu
Ambati Rayudu is the hero of IPL for CSK franchise in the previous season. He made dazzling starts in the previous season and added 603 runs at an average of 42. He slammed just 34 runs from three games at a poor strike rate of 61.81 in the current season and wants to get back into form to rejuvenate himself in the tournament. He should get back into the fire at the earliest to resolve the middle order muddle in the Indian team before world cup.
