Delhi Capitals attained a place in the top half of the IPL points table after a few setbacks in the beginning. Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals have five wins from nine games at present but Delhi Capitals are in a better position with a better run rate than the former.  Since the Delhi Capitals had a poor record at home and want to bounce back with this game since they need to play the rest of five fixtures at Feroz Shah Kotla.

Prithvi Shaw did not do well after his cameo of 99 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders. He slammed just 77 runs from six fixtures and might lose his position if his poor performance continues in this game. Rishabh Pant also made a few runs but could not perform up to the expectations. Shikhar Dhawan made a comeback performance in the previous game and might be the pivotal batsman for the side in the current game.

Sandeep Lamicchane and Kagiso Rabada are the crucial bowlers for the side. Shreyas Iyer shoulders the responsibility of playing consistently and guiding the team dynamically to attain an identity in this tournament. Amit Mishra is another bowler to watch out for from the side.

KXIP did not have a cakewalk in this series but strived hard to attain a place in the top half of the points table. Their closest rivals are the Delhi Capitals and need to give a tough fight to attain dominance in the tournament.  They lost one game for every two wins in the tournament and needs a win desperately to keep on the momentum. Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, and Mayank Agarwal are the protagonists for the side. KL Rahul lost his wicket most of the times for spinners and Mayank Agarwal was also troubled badly by the spinners.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Murugan Ashwin are the crucial bowlers for Punjab side. Mohammed Shami did not play according to the expectations in this series. Since Akshar Patel and Amit Mishra went to Delhi Capitals in this season from the Punjab side, the visitors need to be wary about this spin duo. Another talking point is, Mayank Agarwal has the best strike rate of 162 and an average above 122 against the spinners.

Earlier in this season, Sam Curran made a hat-trick against Delhi Capitals to restrict the opponents to 152/10 when they need to chase 167 from 20 overs. Sam Curran made his best figures from this series at Mohali, 4/11.

Since 2017, Delhi Capitals won one game and Kings XI Punjab won four games out of five head to head fixtures. Coming to an overall record of head to head fights,  KXIP won 14 games and DC won 9 games off 23 fixtures.
