As Gautam Gambhir was out of Kolkata Knight Riders for current IPL season, there is a vacuum in the team that needs to be filled by a competent player. Jacques Kallis opined that Chris Lynn was an apt candidate for that.
Jacques Kallis took retirement from the International cricket four years ago. He chose to fill this void by keeping himself busy in other cricket formats. He commented that Chris Lynn will be the man with the potential to replace Gambhir as KKR captain for IPL 2018. Gambhir was earlier chosen by the Delhi DareDevils team after leading the KKR in the earlier edition.
Jacques Kallis was in Switzerland to play ice-cricket. He is about to coach the Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2018. This all-rounder will be the head coach for the team. He is happy with the team composition of the KKR for this season.
“We have got an experienced side and our first XI, as of now, looks pretty settled,” he told to the press.
Kolkata accommodated most of the successful Under-19 crew like Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shubman Gill and Shivam Mavi for this edition.
“We have some very talented youngsters as back-ups. One positive thing about this year’s squad is that we have proper balance for home and away conditions,” Kallis added.
After playing in seven editions for KKR, Gambhir returned to Delhi DareDevils for the current season. If the question about who will be the captain of the team for the 11th edition of this tournament arises, Chriss Lynn will be one of the options.
Kallis said that the management did not confirm the appointment of the captain but Chris Lynn will be the best option.
“Yes, he is probably one of the candidates but we haven’t yet decided about it. Maybe, we will get to know in the next couple of weeks,” Kallis said about appointing Lynn as the captain for KKR.
The schedule for IPL 2018 was announced and the Kolkata Knight Riders are about to encounter the Royal Challengers Bangalore at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 8th April in their first game in this edition.
