One of the biggest franchises in IPL, Chennai Super Kings is also the best-managed. In the Indian Premier League CSK is known for its acumen to pick players with experience and cricket IQ even the younger ones who are picked at the auctions.

Under the captainship of MS Dhoni, the team has risen to the occasion on all departments. With skipper’s influence on the national team selection, he has mentored the likes of Deepak Chahar and Sudeep Tyagi into the national team.

Arguably one of the classiest batsmen to play cricket, Murali Vijay got his big break for the national team after excelling for CSK in the IPL.

Although not part of the inaugural IPL season, Vijay made his Test debut in 2009 owing to his excellent Ranji performance. He got his chance in IPL 2010 and he showed how well he can handle the pressure in the limited-overs formats.

In a course of 3 IPL seasons as part of CSK, Vijay amassed over 1,000 runs with the best performance against Rajasthan Royals hitting 127. It was the highlight of his IPL career.

With his elegant technical prowess, Murali Vijay was soon made a regular feature in the Indian Test side. He played some crucial knocks against England and Australia in difficult conditions.

Although his ODI and T20 careers were not able to flourish, Vijay still remains one of the best Test openers. Some credit of his grooming has to go to CSK.

#2 Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin is a hometown boy for CSK who has become a stable of the Indian Test side, especially for the home conditions. Part of IPL for 8 seasons, Ashwin has been able to pick 90 wickets as the off-spinner for a majestic T20 economy rate of 6.46.

Of these,33 wickets are from IPL 2010 and 2011 seasons alone. For the same years, he made his ODI and Test debuts respectively. Under Dhoni, Ashwin flourished as a spinner both for CSK and the Indian side.

Till now, in 70 Tests Ashwin has taken 362 wickets. He was also the #1 ICC Test bowler for an extended period. Although his performance in overseas games has lacked and he was not that successful in limited over games, Ashwin still remains one of the most versatile spinners for India.

#1 Ravindra Jadeja

RavindraJadeja

It might be surprising for you to see Ravindra Jadeja in this list as he made his IPL debut under Shane Warne playing for Rajasthan Royals, but keep in mind he truly achieved his potential under the guidance of MS Dhoni playing for CSK.

An all-rounder, Jadeja is excellent with the bat, electric on the field and pinpoint account with ball-the traits that make him valuable for any format of the game. But after playing for CSK Jadeja has elevated his performance to such a level that he has become a regular for all three formats. Undoubtedly, Ravindra Jadeja is one of the greatest all-rounders India has ever seen.

After struggling with major criticism in the early days as a batsman, today Jadeja’s batting has developed potentially over the years. As Warne labelled him the ‘rockstar’, he has over 4,000 runs and over 400 wickets in ODIs and Tests logged as his stats.
