As the IPL 2020 is all set to take place in UAE, the Australian pacer Kane Richardson has expressed his excitement to be able to play in the Indian Premier League alongside Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Dale Steyn.
Speaking in an interview with ANI, Richardson that this is an opportunity for him to learn the art of being a consistent fast bowler from Steyn when playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The former Rajasthan Royals star also mentioned looking forward to playing with the Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli.
Royal Challengers Bangalore despite being a star-studded team every year, has still not been able to win a single IPL Trophy. For the 2020 season of the tournament, the Bangalore-based franchise has roped in big international names during IPL Auction.
This year, RCB has gained the services of Isuru Udana, Dale Steyn, Aaron Finch, Joshua Philippe, Kane Richardson, and Chris Morris for the overseas players’ quota. Richardson has been the part of RBC before as well in IPL 2016. During that tenure, he picked up seven wickets in four matches.
The 29-year-old fast bowler is excited to be reunited with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. He told ANI:
“Huge. These guys (Virat, AB de Villiers) are the absolute legends of the game. Anything I can learn from them will be a bonus, that’s for sure. I am really looking forward to playing with Virat, there are few more competitive players in the world. I am really looking forward to seeing what makes him tick.”
Then the former Pune Warriors India player also included how this is a golden opportunity to share the dressing room with Proteas great Dale Steyn.
“There are loads I can learn from Dale. He has been amongst the best at the highest level for so long. His control and ability to swing the ball without losing his pace is really impressive. I look forward to getting in his ear about how he performs so consistently over a long period, in all forms,” said Richardson.
IPL 2020 is all set to be played in the UAE from September 19. Royal Challengers Bangalore will be keen to end the jinx this year and get home their maiden IPL trophy.
