As per the latest reports, former Indian skipper and Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni have returned to the nets as he is closer to join his team for the upcoming edition of IPL. The CSK skipper was caught running at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association complex in Ranchi.

According to one of the officials of the JSCA, Dhoni has been training at the facility for a couple of days over the last weekend. He told the New Indian Express, “He (MS Dhoni) visited the JSCA International Stadium Complex last week. He practised at the indoor facility using bowling machines. He did batting practice for two days over the weekend, but has not returned since.”

However, due to the pandemic, there were not many bowlers available which is why MS Dhoni had to practice against the bowling machines.

MS Dhoni will make his long-awaited return at IPL 2020

Ever since his last run out against New Zealand in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup match, the former Indian skipper has been away from the competitive cricket.

There have been speculations about his retirement even since the 2019 World Cup, but just like his cricketing skills, Dhoni has kept everyone guessing. But news of his return to the field will be a joy for millions of his fans.

Dhoni still has a couple of weeks before he gathers with rest of the CSK team in Chennai on August 20th before taking off to the UAE. He can still practice at the training facilities in Ranchi. He scheduled himself a month-long training camp, but unfortunately due to COVID-19 had to be cancelled mid-way.

In IPL, MS Dhoni has played 190 matches as part of the Chennai Super Kings and scored 4432 runs at a strike rate of 137.8. He has been at the helm of the CSK since its inception and led the team to 3 victories under his guidance.
