For the upcoming eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League, Ravichandran Ashwin has been appointed to lead the Punjab franchise. The announced was made during a live Facebook session with Virender Sehwag and Ashwin on the official page of Kings XI Punjab.
Ashwin was bought for a whopping INR 7.6 crore by Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 2018 auctions. In the IPL so far, Ravichandran has played 111 matches with 100 wickets on his name. He played for Chennai Super Kings and the Rising Pune Supergiant.
Punjab has played all the IPLs and Ashwin will be the 10th skipper for the franchise that was led by likes of-

Ashwin who is not familiar with the regional culture said he will try to learn Hindi and Punjabi to imbibe in the culture. As far as his captaincy is concerned, he was caught saying that it won’t be predictable.
In IPL 2018, teams are taking a new approach to announcing their captains before Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royal gave the name of the captain over IPL’s official broadcast channel. Steven Smith was named to lead the Rajasthan Franchisee by Shane Warne and franchise co-owner Manoj Badale. Next up is the Kolkata franchise that is expected to make the announcement of the captain in the similar fashion on March 4.
The most anticipated event of Indian cricket, IPL this year will commence on April 7 and conclude on May 27. The opening match will be played between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Ashwin’s Kings XI Punjab will play their first match against Delhi Daredevils on April 8 at Delhi.
