Chris Gayle became the third batsman to score centuries against 11 different countries in the ODIs. Shimron Hetmyer hit the other century against the United Arab Emirates, his first ODI century.gayleIn this match, the West Indies defeated UAE by 60 runs. This match is conducted to decide the places of the teams in the Group A for ICC World Cup 2019. Gayle made his electrifying hundred by 11 sixes and 7 fours and scored 113 runs off 91 balls. Hetmyer scored 127 runs off 93 balls.

The West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. The team’s score was 357 runs off 50 overs. Though the UAE attempted to give a head to head competition, they winded up at 297 runs in 50 overs for the loss of 6 wickets.

Rameez Shahzad scored 112 runs. This 30-year old right-handed batsman stood unbeaten till the end but his efforts were left futile. He scored his 2nd ODI century in his career of 13 ODIs. He made his hundred off 107 balls with nine fours and four sixes. Shaiman Anwar supported him by 64 runs and Adnan Mufti followed him by 45 runs. The West Indies bowler Kemar Roach gave a good start by dismissing the UAE opener, Chirag Suri. This was his 100th ODI wicket.

Gayle stood as the man of the match by finishing his fifty in 47 balls and then hundred off 91 balls. He made half-century off five fours and three sixes. Gayle scored his 23 rd century of the career. He scored hundreds against India, New Zealand, Canada, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, Pakistan, Kenya Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

Hashim Amla scored 26 centuries in his career of 164 ODIs. He scored centuries against Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, England, Ireland, West Indies and Zimbabwe. Sachin Tendulkar made 49 centuries against Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Kenya, Namibia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and England. Ricky Ponting made 29 centuries against 10 countries and his 30th century was against Asia XI.

After the departure of Gayle at the score of 191 runs in 29th over, Hetmyer continued the arrogant saga by making a stand of 166 runs in the last 21 overs. He finished his century off 78 balls with 10 fours and four sixes.
