IPL 2018 Team Breakdown-Kings XI Punjab Squad

The Kings XI Punjab team was the finalist in IPL 2014. The team lost the title at the nick of the moment under the leadership of George Bailey. The team is known as one of the inconsistent teams though comprises of experienced players.KXIP-2018The franchise managed to retain Akshar Patel before the commencement of auctions. The batting department seems formidable with Yuvraj Singh, KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Aaron Finch. Ravichandran Ashwin, the new captain is a good spinner himself. The all-rounders like Yuvraj Singh are the main spearheads for the team. The team eyed on clinching the title with a strong and experienced side.  Though the main players of the team are above 30years, the chances of title victory seem lessened but we cannot rule out the capabilities of the veteran players. Some of the crucial bowlers for the team are Andrew Tye, Barinder Sran, and Mohit Sharma. The team succeeded to retain Marcus Stoinis and David Miller along with Mohit Sharma by the right to match card.


The strong batting line- up is the strength of the team. Yuvraj Singh may stand as the opener along with Chris Gayle or may play in the middle order. Aaron Finch and KL Rahul likely open the game. Chris Gayle scored 200 runs from 9 IPL matches and KL Rahul scored  725 runs in 39 IPL matches. Aaron Finch, the famous Australian opener scored 1206 runs from 36 T20Is. Along with them, Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, and David Miller are expected to make a good contribution in the middle order. Former skipper of the team Yuvraj Singh is striving hard to make a good mark in IPL to make a place in the team for the World cup 2019. Akshdeep Nath or KL Rahul may be named as wicket-keepers.


The team has a solid bowling back up. Skipper Ravichandran Ashwin and Akshar Patel are the experienced spinners for the team. Andrew Tye and Mohit Sharma made a good mark in the previous editions for the pace bowling department. Tye picked 12 wickets from 6 IPL matches in 2017. Barinder Sran and Ankit Rajpoot are youngsters who can make a crucial part in the bowling department. Mohit Sharma took 78 wickets from 83 IPL matches. Mujeeb Zadraan, the 16-year old Afgan player, who took 27 wickets from 11 one-dayers is a good option to be tried on.


Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel are the crucial all-rounders from the squad. Patel took 58 wickets and scored 600 runs from 59 IPL matches. He did not do well against South Africa but is expected to regain his form.Yuvraj Singh who has two hat-tricks in his IPL account may do well with the ball at the need of the hour. Stoinis has a strike rate of 60 and picked 7 wickets from 13 matches in ODIs.
