New Zealand pacer Mitchell Mc Clenaghan was included in the Mumbai Indians team as a substitute for Jason Behrendorff.Behrendorff was bought by the Mumbai Indians franchise for Rs.1.5 crore after head to head competition with Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab in the auctions on January 27th and 28th at Bangalore.
He missed out the prestigious tournament due to the back injury. Mc Clenaghan, who was unsold for the current season was included in the team due to injury woes of this 27-year old speedster. Mc Clenaghan was behind many successful moments of the team.
He played for Mumbai Indians and used to bowl with the new ball for three consecutive seasons. He was the part of the team when they won the title in 2015 and 2017. He was a terrific bowler capable to pick a series of wickets in spite of his generous economy rate.
Clenaghan thanked the Mumbai Indians franchise and his captain Rohit Sharma for supporting him all this time through Twitter after he knew he was left unsold.
This pacer is expecting to bounce back into international grounds by his performance in the IPL as he was out of the New Zealand team since March 2016. He played 28 t20Is for New Zealand and took 30 wickets at an average of 25.26. He played 48 ODIs and picked 82 wickets at an average of 28.20.
In his IPL Career, this speedster played 40 matches for Mumbai Indians and took 54 wickets at an average of 24.61 at an economy rate of 8.61.
