Kings XI Punjab was set to start their saga in the IPL on 8th April in Ferozshah Kotla against Delhi DareDevils. But the schedule was modified due to logistic issues. They will play their first game at IS Bindra stadium in Mohali and they play another game at Delhi on April 23rd. This Punjab based franchise will play another four home games at Indore. The reason for these modifications is, the Chandigarh airport will be closed on account of renovation works from 12th May to 31st May.
Speaking about this shift, the KXIP CEO Satish Menon said that, “It is rather unfortunate that the dates had to be shuffled so late in the day,”
“However, external difficulties always have to be worked around. Despite the unforeseen circumstances, we’re rather excited by the prospect of starting off in Mohali. At the end of the day, both venues are home to us.”
The team will play their first match against Delhi DareDevils on April 8th and take on Royal Challengers Bangalore on 13th April. Then the schedule of home matches begins at IS Bindra stadium at Mohali against Chennai SuperKings on April 15th and another game will be held at the same venue against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 19th April.
The KXIP is about to face KKR on 21st April, DD on 23rd April, and SRH on 26th April in three away from matches. They will play MI on 4th May and RR on 6th May at Indore Holkar stadium. They will face Rajasthan Royals again on 8th May at Jaipur before competing with KKR and RCB again on 12th May and 14th May respectively.
