Most of the star players were doubtful to participate in IPL 2018. This is an unwritten convention since the inception of IPL. Here are some of the expensive players who suffer injuries and may miss out the series for various reasons.

  1. Sunil Narine(Kolkata Knight Riders-Rs.12.50 crore)

This Caribbean star spinner fear to miss out the series due to reports about his suspicious bowling action in the Pakistan super league. He was retained by the franchise long before the auction. He was a prominent performer for the team in 2012 and 2017. His participation is doubtful on account of reports to the West Indies cricket board regarding his bowling action in PSL where he played for Lahore Qalandars.

  1. Andre Russel (Kolkata Knight Riders-Rs.8.50 crore)

This all-rounder was back to IPL after serving a ban period of a year due to doping allegations. He was picked by the KKR for a whopping amount of Rs.8.50 crores. He was one of the star players for the team in the lower order. He may miss out this series due to a hamstring injury.

  1. Jofra Archer(Rajasthan Royals-Rs.7.20 crore)

This West Indian all-rounder was bought by the Rajasthan Royals management for a handsome amount of Rs.7.2 crores on the bias of his terrific performance for Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League this year. He was ruled out from Pakistan Super League where he was scheduled to play for Quetta Gladiators and his participation in IPL fell into doubt.

  1. Mitchell Johnson (Kolkata Knight Riders-Rs.2 crore)

This speedster may miss this trophy due to the head injury in the gym and a surgery to the scalp. Earlier he suffered a serious head injury when he hit his head on the metal bar. He needs time to recover from the injury and may be ruled out for the series.

  1. Chris Lynn (Kolkata Knight Riders-Rs.9.6 crore)

This star batsman suffered a shoulder injury in the T20I series finale against New Zealand in which he played for Australia. The doctors confirmed that he does not require a surgery earlier. He was expected to lead the KKR franchise this year but due to injury woes, his participation in the IPL fell into suspicion. He was one of the terrific cricketers coming to the shortest format cricket.
