Washington Sundar made his debut in the Nidahas trophy for India. He won the man of the series award for his magnificent performance. This 19-year old finger- spinner has the capability of playing for the country in the upcoming World cup 2019. He is the youngest player to play for India in the T20Is. The management is working on accommodating him among the wrist-spinners Yuzwendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.
Team India’s coach Ravi Shastri earlier said that the management is working on the core players after the completion of series against South Africa based on the performance of the players in the coming 8-10 months of campaigns. Sundar will be included in the arsenal of spinners for the upcoming World cup in England as Mohammed Shami, the speedster is out of the game due to his personal issues. Shami needs time to come into the form and fight his battle for the upcoming world cup.
Since 2015, out of 19 outstanding debutants, 16 players were given chance to represent India in the international grounds till date. Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah played for the teams of all the three formats till now. They will be the part of India’s core team for the World cup.
Keeping in mind the workload of Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Shreyas Iyer, the top performers in the U19 world cup like Abhishek Sharma, skipper Prithwi Shah, and Shubhman Gill may get a call for the national team to play the World Cup 2019.
Coach Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli are working on the team composition for series against England and Australia to be held before the World cup. They are focusing on placement of batsmen and bowlers to maintain perfect balance in the team including batsmen to play in no.4 and no.5 and the alternate players in case of poor form or injury. Keeping all these consequences in mind, Sundar will be the man who can complete the spin-trio for India in the upcoming series including the World cup 2019.
