Scotland was out of World Cup 2019 for no fault of theirs. The match was suspended due to rain and the result was determined by the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. Both the teams fought hard as this encounter was a life and death issue for them. Scotland tried to chase the score of 199 runs to grab a berth for the world cup but in vain due to rain. Marlon Samuels and Evin Lewis tried to rebuild the West Indies innings by the scores 51 and 66 respectively and made the stand of 121 runs but after their dismissal, the Caribbean batsmen fought hard for life though Carlos Braithwaite and Rovman Powell managed to make a decent score. The Scotland bowlers succeeded in winding up the West Indies innings by picking 8 wickets within the score of 75 runs.
The Scottish bowlers managed to pick wickets at regular intervals. Sharif took 3 wickets and conceded 27 runs and Bradley Wheal took 3 wickets off 34 runs. They started their innings at a slow pace as they lost 3 wickets by the score of 25 runs. Then, they lost another wicket at the score of 67 runs. Kemar and Holder made the openers depart earlier. Calum MacLeod and Michael Jones tried to make their mark but in vain. George Munsey and Richie Berrington managed to make a decent score and rebuild the innings.
The Scottish batsman Berrington was given lbw by false assumptions and the team did not ask for a review. Though this is an important match, there was no DRS request about this decision. Scotland had to exit the tournament without their fault. The West Indies got the favor by DLS due to the suspension of the match due to rain.
Earlier, Scotland lost a match to Ireland in the World cup qualifier match due to the unfavorable decision that was taken in regard to lbw of Andrew Balbrine. He was given benefit of doubt and later he scored a ton that managed to cruise the Irish towards victory.
