Australian batsman Chris Lynn who was bagged by the Kolkata Knight Riders has announced his availability for the eleventh edition of Indian Premier League that kick starts on April 7.Lynn whose presence in IPL was doubtful after he got injured, was the first choice of KKR to lead the team. However, in his absence franchise named Dinesh Karthik as the captain.
During the tri-series between Australia, New Zealand, and England, Lynn injured his right shoulder while trying to stop a ball, landing awkwardly on his right shoulder and dislocating it.
He is now training to get fit as soon as possible and will be taking on Billy Stanlake and Ben Cutting to get an idea of how well he is recovering. Speaking to cricket.com.au, Lynn said: “It’s tracking really nicely. It’s a short turnaround with the timeframe that we’ve got but it’s all going well. The docs and the physios are happy so that’s all I can do. Fingers crossed I can keep going in the right direction and try to make myself available for the first game of the IPL.
“If not, it’s not the end of the world but I’m doing everything I can to get back out there. I’ve had a bat during the week just on throwdowns, so I’ll ramp it up next week against ‘Cuttsy’ and Billy Stanlake. If I can get through those two blokes, I’ll know I’m going okay.”
Kolkata bought Chris Lynn for a whopping INR 9.6 crores and his injury was a major setback for the team. His return to the IPL will be a blessing for KKR. For Kolkata fans, it is welcoming news as the franchise is already marred because of injuries that is keeping some of their key players’ presence doubtful. Kolkata will host the Bangalore team in the first encounter of IPL of this season on April 8.
