Virat Kohli is recognized worldwide as one of the finest batsmen in cricket. However, England still remains an unconquered land for him. In the recent Test series against England, he managed to get only 134 runs from 5 matches at a dismal rate of 13.40. This is not a performance that classy batsmen are supposed to witness. With another tour of England coming up, the Indian skipper has decided to make most of the opportunity by participating in the county cricket. After the IPL tournament that ends in June, Kolhi will be seen playing for Surrey.
Surrey County has a history of hosting some of the known legends of cricket like Kevin Pietersen and Kumar Sangakkara and Virat Kohli is the first Indian ever to join the ranks. India will be hosting Afghanistan in June for their maiden Test and Kohli will miss the game.
Interestingly Cheteshwar Pujara will also play for Yorkshire around the same time and we can see Kohli and Pujara locking horns in Surrey before the two team up to play against England in August. As per the report by Times Of India, Surrey will be playing 3 Tests between June 9 and 28 against Hampshire, Somerset, and Yorkshire. Virat Kohli will be available to Surrey for all 3 matches. Another player who will be seen playing throughout the County Championship is Ishant Sharma who will play for Sussex.
India will be playing 5 Tests, 3 ODIs and 3 T20I in England in August 2018. Kohli will have an edge to play in this tournament as he will get enough exposure during the County Championship.
