Australian pacer Micthell Starc is ruled out of the eleventh edition of Indian Premier League because of a tibial bone stress in his right leg. The injury is also the reason for his absence in the fourth Test against South Africa in Johannesburg.Knight Riders bagged Starc for a whopping INR 9.4 crores in the IPL 2018 auctions. Tim Paine, current Australian skipper told that the Aussie pacer was playing in the Test matches even after the injury.
After his absence in IPL this year, Starc has missed the league for the third time in succession. Last time we saw him playing was for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2015 against Chennai Super Kings in the playoff game.
Till now there is no official statement released by the KKR team, so there is mystery over who will be named as the replacement for the Aussie pacer. Usually, a stress fracture injury heals within six to eight weeks but with Starc there is no official confirmation on how long it might take him to get well.
Absence of Australian players is getting more and more common as IPL is nearing. Steven Smith and David Warner are already out of IPL because of their suspension due to the ball-tampering scandal. Jason Behrandorff and Nathan Coulter-Nile are also out of the league because of injuries.
For Kolkata, things are getting even more difficult as there is no word on the presence of Sunil Narine who is under scrutiny for illegal bowling action. Chris Lynn is still recovering from his shoulder injury and there is no update on his availability for IPL. Mitchell Johnson injured himself while exercising and got stitches in the head. Andre Russell also got injured during the 2018 PSL.
